Jayaraman Residence, Penang, Malaysia - Architect & Design Manager
House design incorporating Arabic proportion systems. The house features a drive through portico which connects to a clearly defined circulation system with a fountain and water pool as the centerpiece of the Living Room. Second floor has 10 bedrooms and ensuite baths plus 3 house help bedrooms. A separate Master bedroom suite is also on the second floor. The third floor is a series of planted roof spaces for the bedrooms and master suite. The roof gardens look out over the golf. course. The attached garage holds 6 cars.
NY Rising Disaster Relief from Superstorm Sandy – Senior Project Manager
Providing hands on senior management to repair and re-construct 8,000 homes damaged by the October 2012 storm and senior manager in charge of rebuilding 500 small businesses affected by the storm. Work involves setting protocols for damage assessment, design standards and construction technical support of homeowners and business owners rebuilding their homes and businesses. HUD funded through the State of New York, work must be monitored to give even distribution of funds and timely support to the home and business owners who have been severely affected by the storm.
USACE United States Military Academy New Cadet Barracks - Principal-in-Charge
Leading the planning for this 286,000-sf new barracks building at the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY. The $200 million project for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will house 650 cadets. Phase I includes a 2-story basement to house mechanical equipment for the barracks as well as space to accommodate a future chiller plant to serve adjacent barracks buildings. Phase II will consist of a 6-story barracks building including meeting and common rooms, bathrooms, and laundry facilities. The project has the added complication of being built into a solid rock hillside. Schedule is critical for this building because it will serve as partial swing space for the renovation of 10 other barracks.
USACE United States Military Academy Scott Barracks Renovations - Principal-in-Charge
Leading the planning and PDR effort for the 150,000-sf interior renovation of this barracks, home to 485 cadets at the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY. The $67 million project for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will include renovations and modernization upgrades for all systems in the historic 1938 building. Important considerations were the additional requirements for seismic resistance as well as anti-terrorism /force protection upgrades.
RESIDENTIAL ESTATE MANAGEMENT
330 East Thirty Eight Street, NYC - Design Manager
Client is joining two condominium apartments together to become a new family abode. Work involves review and alternates analysis, an independent view of how the new designs will overlap with existing mechanical and electrical conditions. Most of the core space is being altered. Work includes help in selecting prime contractor and following inputs and submittals to ensure the project is constructed according to plans and within the least construction time possible. Current
Private Client Compound Management - Project Architect
Clients are working on a five year plan of projects, encompassing historic restoration of 1800’s buildings, upgrading of mechanical and electrical systems to addition of solar electric systems to bring the compound up to current standards. Work involves assembling technically specific teams to perform a particular project as well as developing team management skills and interactive exercises to keep the permanent staff skilled and cooperating.
Three Residence Compound Management – Project Manager
Provided complete management and contractual control for three different design and building projects in London, Watermill and Astor Place in NYC. Work involved scoping of work to be accomplished, scheduling work to meet completion dates, oversight of budgets and deliverables, forming deign and construction team that simultaneously worked together to accomplish a fast-track project covering six buildings on the same site. Responsible for architecture, engineering, landscape architecture, AV/IT designs and installation. One of the projects had a year taken off the construction schedule which
was met by significant overtime and simultaneous coordination of sub-contract projects to come together as a finished estate.
Los Angeles House – Private Client - Project Architect
Detailed design of a 15,000 square ft. house with significant security requirements in Hollywood hills. Design encompassed a three story elevator wall to open the central portion of the house to the climate as required. Work involved a 6 car granite turntable to house car collection. (1994)
